A secret government organization drafts five medical specialists who are miniaturized and injected into the human body of an injured foreign scientist to perform a delicate operation from the inside. They must travel through the bloodstream to the brain in a submarine and dissolve a clot within an hour, before facing attack by antibodies as foreign invaders and before resuming normal size.

When released in 1966, Fantastic Voyage was the most expensive Science Fiction production ($6.5 million) up to that time – in fact, not eclipsed until Stanley Kubrick’s groundbreaking Cinerama production of 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1968.
